If only one drive wheel is turning on your Peg Perego vehicle, what does this mean and how can you fix it?
For most Peg Perego vehicles with two motors, the low speed and reverse gear only power one of the motors, with the high gear setting powering both. This means that only one wheel should turn in the low gear and reverse, with both turning in high gear.
If your vehicle does not move at all in low gear or reverse, and only has one wheel turning in high gear, this indicates that one of the motors is damaged, and in need of replacement. Luckily we have all Peg Perego motors available on our spares page at
this link. If you want to jump right into how to replace motors see HERE. To correct the issue, just remove the old motor by first removing the wheel, then sliding the old motor off the axle. The new motor will slide on easily, allowing you to get back on the road. If you aren't sure which otor you need, or you need further help fitting a new one, just get in touch with us and one of our technicians will be able to talk you through it.
If your motor is the problem, then we can supply a replacement. All Peg Perego vehicles use motors that are integrated into a gearbox, making them very easy to install on the axle of your vehicle. What do I do if my Peg Perego vehicle does not go faster when put into high gear?
If your vehicle is moving in first gear and reverse, but you are not getting any additional speed in high gear, there are two possible causes: either your secondary motor is damaged or there is a problem with the gear selector switch. Luckily there's a simple test for this. See the video below and follow the steps to remove the cable connectors from the working motor and attach them to the non working one. If the motor still won't turn, then the most likely cause is a damaged gear selector. We can supply all gear switches, so just get in touch and our team will guide you in the right direction.
If your secondary motor is not working, then all you need to do is order a new motor/gearbox unit as above.
What if neither of the motors is working on my Peg Perego vehicle?
If you have no power at all to either motor, even though you have a fully charged battery, the most likely cause is a damaged foot pedal switch. If this is the case, the best thing to do is to
contact our team who will be able to help you remove, test, and if necessary replace the foot pedal assembly and switch.
The other most common cause of double motor failure on a Peg Perego vehicle is a fault on the vehicle's main circuit board. If this is the case, you will hear a series of short beeps when turning the vehicle on. If your board is emitting a beeing sound, just contact our team
