The below video offers a very good guide on the removal and replacement of a Gaucho SuperPower motor and gearbox. Scroll down to see all the steps outlined in detail.
Step 1: Remove the Wheels
To start the process, you will need to remove the wheels of the vehicle. To do this, you’ll need to remove the domed wheel cap which covers the axle nut. To remove the wheel cap, use your screwdriver to lever it off, as shown in the above video. Once this is off, you can use your pliers to remove the cotter pin that holds the wheel onto the axle. Now you will be able to remove the wheel from the axle.
Step 2. Remove the brake disc.
As shown in the above video, remove the screws from the brake disc and caliper. There is one screw at the top of the caliper, and two in the rotor disc. Once these are removed, the disc can be safely removed. Next ensure you remove the black plastic hub coupling as shown in the video.
Step 3: Stripping the axle
After removing the wheels and disc, check beneath the vehicle’s tow bar, where you’ll find a red plastic nut. Loosen and remove this, which will allow the brake actuator levers to be starightened and cleared from the axle path. The video shows this very clearly.
Step 4. Lever off the brake assembly
This is a straightforward step – just use your screwdriver to remove the brake calipers from the vehicle. The video demonstrates this clearly at the 4:30 mark.
Step 5: Remove the Old Motor and Gearbox Unit
Once the motor axle is clear, you can remove the motor assembly by sliding it off the axle, as shown in the video. To detach the cable, unplug the blue connector.
Step 6. Fitting the new motor.
To fit the new motor, simply slide it onto the axle and then connect the blue connector to the matching connector on the vehicle’s wiring harness. You are now able to go back through the above steps in reverse, first reinstalling the brake calliper, then realigning the brake levers, and fitting the plastic couplings. The disc rotor needs to be reinstalled too – make sure all three screws you removed are fully tightened.
Step 7. Replacing the wheel
Fit the inner drive hub to the wheel and slide it onto the axle, making sure that the inner hub slots into the drive coupling. Then, replace the cotter pin in the axle end and finally refit the wheel cap.
As you can see, replacing the motors on a Peg Perego Gaucho SuperPower 24V vehicle requires a certain level of technical expertise and knowledge of electronics. However, by following the above steps, you can easily remove and replace a faulty motor. Always use the correct official Peg Perego replacement parts (available at this link) and seek professional help if you are not confident in performing the procedure yourself. By following these steps, you can ensure that your child's Peg Perego Gaucho SuperPower 24V vehicle remains in top condition, providing hours of fun and entertainment.
